Get ready, Boston! Whuff’s a-comin!
This has been super, super hard for me to *not* write about – nearly as difficult as hiding a pregnancy (NO I AM NOT PREGNANT, JEEZ NANA I AM JUST FAT) – and now I’m very happy to announce that we’re moving to Boston! Like… next week. It’s been in the works for months and has been very much at the forefront of our lives, so it’s very exciting to finally be able to move forward and get on with our next adventure!
To answer some questions that have already been asked and I’m sure will be asked again: Nuno’s starting a new engineering job (that I won’t get into details here, out of respect for his privacy) having decided that teaching isn’t what he wants to do career-wise. We’ll be living in the South End area of Boston, where I used to nanny. This was my one condition on moving back to a city I have not been famously fond of (actually, my hatred of Boston is pretty famous – but I also know that it’s what makes the most sense for us as a family) – that we move to this one specific very kid-friendly neighborhood. We’re working on signing a lease this week and moving by August 1st – everything’s happening pretty quickly.
It really has been tough for me to blog the past few months and not mention this. I’m the worst secret-keeper in the entire world, ever. I’m really wicked excited! YAY!
woohoo! Gotta admit, I like having you in Boston because it means the chances of stopping in to see the Alves clan is a little bit easier, logistically speaking.
Yes, it’s a logistical snap. We’ll be right off of the Green Line so a whole 15 min. on the T from the airport
awesome!
Should I congratulate you? Or not? I’m not sure, but I will. Congrats!
Yes, it’s congratulations-worthy.
Even if I haven’t been Boston’s biggest fan in the past, Nuno really got an amazing job and it’ll be good for us as a family to be in a place with better schools and blah blah blah. And I’ll either grow to love it or – as a good Scandinavian – resign myself to my misery in the great tradition of my ancestors. Probably the former, I’m pretty adaptable.
